Rustavi is close enough to Tbilisi that many people never think about buying crypto locally. That’s a mistake for small, everyday purchases: the city has five Cryptomat machines in ordinary supermarkets, and two registered exchange providers list branches on the same street. It’s also a mistake to assume Rustavi can do everything the capital does. None of the machines here buys crypto back, and the choice of exchange offices is a fraction of Tbilisi’s.
So the useful question for anyone wanting to buy crypto in Rustavi is simple: which jobs can you finish in town, and which ones justify the 25-kilometre trip up the highway?
The five crypto ATMs in Rustavi
All five belong to Cryptomat (NBG registration 0005-9404). They sell BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH and USDT on ERC-20ERC-20Tokens on the Ethereum network. Widely supported but network fees can be several dollars per transfer. and TRC-20TRC-20USDT issued on the Tron network. Cheap and fast transfers, which is why most OTC and property deals in Georgia quote TRC-20.. None of them buys crypto back.
| Host | Address | Can sell? |
|---|---|---|
| Nikora | Kostava 19 | No |
| Nikora | Meskhishvili 12 | No |
| Libre | Shartava 12a | No |
| Libre | Tashkenti 7 (XX district) | No |
| Shawarma House Gurmani | Leonidze 14 | No |
The last one is a reminder that Cryptomat places machines wherever there’s foot traffic, not only in big chains. Opening hours follow the host, so a machine inside a shop is only available while the shop is open.
Fees and limits aren’t published by the operator. A local guide reports all-in costs of 6–12% including the spreadSpreadThe gap between the buy and sell price. A desk that buys USDT at 2.57 GEL and sells at 2.62 GEL earns a 0.05 GEL spread on each coin. at Georgian machines, phone-number verification up to roughly 1,000–2,000 GEL and a passport above that. Those are indicative numbers. The crypto ATM guide shows how to compare the screen rate with the market price.
Registered exchange branches in Rustavi
The National Bank’s register (version 23.10.2026) gives two providers branches in Kvemo Kartli, the region Rustavi is the capital of:
- Alltrust.me (Maverick Solution LLC, 0010-9404): Aleksandre Lobzhanidze 19. Head office in Tbilisi, other branches in Tbilisi, at Tbilisi airport and in Batumi. It describes itself as an exchange in Tbilisi and Batumi; reviews on Trustpilot mention quick USDT-to-USD cash conversions at its offices.
- Werty (Unotron LLC, 0021-9404): Aleksandre Lobzhanidze 9. Head office on Petre Melikishvili 15 in Tbilisi, with branches in Tbilisi and Adjara. A recent cash-out guide by ChangeNOW names Werty as operating in Tbilisi, Batumi and Rustavi.
Independent sources point the same way. A local guide says crypto exchange offices operate in Tbilisi, Batumi and Rustavi, and the Obmify aggregator lists cash exchange directions for Rustavi. Obmify doesn’t show whether its exchangers are registered, though. Whoever you use, check the registration number on the NBG register or our list of licensed crypto exchanges.
When Rustavi is enough, and when to go to Tbilisi
Here’s how we’d split it.
| Task | In Rustavi | Better in Tbilisi |
|---|---|---|
| Buy a small amount with cash | Any of the 5 machines | — |
| Sell crypto at a machine | Not possible | 9 buy-and-sell machines |
| USDT to US dollars in cash | If a branch confirms | ~35 providers to compare |
| Large OTC deal | Ask the branches | More desks, more quotes |
| Regular buying | Online from home | Online from home |
Stay in Rustavi for a quick purchase at a machine, or for an exchange at one of the Lobzhanidze branches once they’ve confirmed by phone that they deal in cash.
Go to Tbilisi when you want to sell at a machine, since none of Rustavi’s will buy. If you’re driving in from Rustavi, Isani Mall on Navtlugi 8a is on the south-eastern side of the city, and Tbilisi’s other sell-capable machines are in Galleria Tbilisi, City Mall Saburtalo, City Mall Gldani, Tbilisi Mall, Goodwill Dighomi, Orbeliani Bazaar, Axis Kazbegi and Homemart Vake. It’s also worth the trip for a large USDT deal: Chavchavadze Avenue in Vake alone carries seven registered providers’ addresses, so you can line up several quotes in one afternoon. Our Tbilisi guide maps the districts.
If you commute to the capital anyway, there’s no reason to make a special journey. Plan the exchange around a day you’re already there.
Buying from home: the online routes
For anything regular, the cheapest route is usually online, and nothing about living in Rustavi changes that.
Pick a registered provider
If you bank with TBC, its mobile app now sells around 30 crypto assets from $1, with Bybit Georgia handling execution. Otherwise choose a registered exchange such as Cryptal, Bybit Georgia or WhiteBIT Georgia.
Verify your identity once
Every registered provider does KYCKYCKnow Your Customer: identity checks (passport, selfie, sometimes proof of address) that licensed services must run before you trade.: ID document and selfie. Do it once at home rather than at a machine screen.
Fund it the cheap way
At Cryptal, a GEL bank transfer, BOG Pay and TBC Pay are free, while a Georgian card costs 2%. Cash at a PayBox terminal works for five registered exchanges: Cryptal, Coinmania, WhiteBIT, CityPay and Bitanica.
Move coins to your own wallet
If you plan to hold, withdraw to a wallet you control and write down the seed phraseSeed phrase12 or 24 words that restore your wallet on any device. Whoever has them owns the coins — never type them into a website or send a photo of them. on paper. Our wallet guide helps you choose.
Prefer to buy with a foreign card? Global platforms such as CEX.IO accept Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. CEX.IO has operated since 2013 and holds US state money-transmitter licences (NMLS 1804170). It has no GEL wallet and no P2P, and it isn’t on the Georgian register.

Open an accountP2P and your salary account
Rustavi is an industrial city built around its steelworks. If your salary arrives in lari in a Georgian bank account, P2PP2PPeer-to-peer: you buy crypto from another person and pay them directly (e.g. by TBC or Bank of Georgia transfer) while the platform holds their coins in escrow. on Binance, Bybit or OKX becomes a realistic option: you pay a seller from your Bank of Georgia, TBC, Credo or Liberty account and receive USDT. In one secondary test a Binance P2P buy was released in about four minutes within roughly 0.5% of the NBG rate.
The flip side is that your salary account is also the one a bank may freeze if transfers from strangers look suspicious. Trade only with verified counterparties, prefer sellers at your own bank, never accept payment from a third party’s account, and keep screenshots. The P2P guide covers the details, and banks and crypto explains what banks typically ask.
Paperwork and tax
Whichever route you use, keep a simple record: the date, the amount in lari, the coin received and the provider’s name or receipt. It costs nothing now and answers the two questions that may come later.
The first comes from your bank. If you sell crypto and the lari lands in your account, the bank can ask for the origin of the funds, and a receipt from an NBG-registered provider is the cleanest answer. A string of P2P transfers from strangers is the hardest to explain.
The second is tax. For individuals, income from selling crypto is not treated as Georgian-source income under the Ministry of Finance’s Public Decision No. 201 of 28 June 2019, so personal income tax is 0%. That doesn’t cover crypto received as a salary or business income, and it says nothing about what your home country may expect if you’re not Georgian tax resident. Read the caveats in crypto tax in Georgia.
Elsewhere in Kvemo Kartli
Kvemo Kartli had about 433,000 residents in 2019, but Rustavi is the only town in the region with crypto machines on Cryptomat’s list. Marneuli, Gardabani, Bolnisi and the rest have none, and no provider registers an office there. From those towns the online routes and P2P are the practical choices, with Rustavi’s machines and the Lobzhanidze branches as the nearest physical points.
